Turning An Idea Into A Tangible Piece Of Jewelry

Written by Erin Vicinanzo

I’ve shared the inspiration behind my jewelry, the Heal my Heart collection, but much more went into reaching this point. Once I made the decision to move forward with my idea, it was a slow moving track, at least in the beginning. I always had a drawing of what I wanted the jewelry to look like, but it needed a name and someone to bring it to life.

The name came first, with my best friend being the one who had the idea for ‘Heal my Heart’. It was the perfect phrase to describe the vision and message that goes along with my jewelry. Deciding on a company name came shortly after, does ‘Heal my Heart’ cover the overall business or is it specific to that jewelry design? I chose to create an additional name, making ‘Heal my Heart’ a line of jewelry, so in the future I can make more lines with names of their own, expanding further. I wanted the name to go along with what we had already decided on, and it was with my husband that we found CorLaesa, which is latin for injured heart. It fit perfectly.

The company had a name, but now the jewelry needed to be taken from the drawing into reality. My daughter and I searched for someone who could assist us with the next step, and we found Southeastern Jewelers, who were local. They were so gracious and helpful in creating the molds for my pieces, allowing for the initial creation, but unfortunately they don’t handle mass production. The search process wasn’t over yet.

Meanwhile, I needed a logo, packaging, a website, and other details which might all need another blog post in order to do justice to the entire story. Getting back to the creation, my daughter and I went back to Google in search of a manufacturer. We found one, with relative ease, and they created the pieces I am selling. Though, I am searching for a company located closer so that I can drive there and work directly with them, ensuring the best quality in my pieces.

Creating ‘heal my heart’ was a process along with a group effort. This isn’t something I could have taken from my initial inspiration to where I am today, without the people around me to assist. Each step has been helped along by someone, whether they be family or a friend, and I am so grateful for all their help and support. I hope you’ve enjoyed my first blog post, there will be more to come!
